The Journey of Taita Taveta University Christian Union

Church has been and remains an indispensable part of a Christian life. Over the centuaries, individuals regardless of race, tribe, social status or age, have been brought together to form fellowships by one faith in Jesus Christ.
The case is not any different from the Christian Union here at Taita Taveta University. Today, this union has been known and described by many as deligent, passionate and zealous which will stop at nothing in bringing quality service and worship to God. The union makes the Students and the staff to feel alike. Many who have fellowshiped with us have confessed how it has helped them grow in their Spiritual lives.

Taita Taveta University is located in Taita Taveta County, 8km west of Voi Town. It sits at the heart of Taita Hills, a unique environment for studies. The University was incepted on 21st October 2008 as a campus of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT). It later transited to Taita Taveta University college which later was chattered as Taita Taveta University. Being a new institution, many things were not in place, including an organised Christian Fellowship despite there being many Christian students. These students took a step to establish a fellowship which is now the Taita Taveta University Christian Union.

The first sunday service was organised on 25th October 2008 at the School Cafteria, with few students in attendance. Some of the founding members of the Union are Noah Samanya the Chairman and Ashley the Vice chairperson. Other leaders were James Wangare, Steve Waema, Mary Muthoni, Njenga Daniel, Duncan Njama, Sarah Ndambuki and Noah Samanya.
The Christian Union grew over time, and a place on a hill within the institution was discovered for prayers. It was later named the "Hill Of Grace". This is the place where individuals, ministries and groups can spend time with God in prayer.
The union has experienced growth in faith , number and in other dimensions.
